So I finished assignment number 1 today. 14 hours of work logged on it, so that's a pretty good check! Hooray! I have three assignments to go, nearly 7,500 words to write by the end of the month. That is a lot of writing and reporting, for reals.
But I'm still worried about lining up future work. I've sent out several applications for freelance, paid, blogging jobs and I have ideas to send out as pitches or queries to magazines. I know I'm armed with the information I need, but coming from the other side of the desk is somewhat disorienting and scary. I have to send out more letters, too, and those take time.
There are moments, too, where it's thrilling and the world seems full of possibility, and those feelings are becoming a little more frequent than three weeks ago, but now that I'm underway with work, and excited by the work, I'm scared that when it's over, it's over.
I'm hoping to set up a website for myself in the next couple weeks (God help me) as well as do some resume revamping and such. On top of everything else. So there's a lot to do, plus I started looking at a to-do list for the wedding. Eeek! Appointment with the tailor next Monday for some alterations. I think I've found the shoes I want but they've been waitlisted in my online order for a couple more weeks. I've made my hair appointment for cut and color for right before I leave for Hawaii. 48 days until the wedding, 44 days until I'm in Hawaii. That is CRAZY. Just CRAZY, people. I am getting married in a month and a half!!!!! That gives me chills and also makes me want to jump off the couch and get everything done today because it will be here before I know it, here and gone. There are still some things to accomplish for the reception too, pretty significant ones, so we need to get going on that this weekend.
And maybe I will have worked enough for these assignments that I can coast until the wedding and I start getting some acceptance letters for more work.

maui, take me away
i'm sort of at a loss tonight for a blog. i've been gone all night, again, and i have a flurry of thoughts i'm just not able to articulate at this exact moment. i've also been going to bed waaaay too late this week, unable to wind down, and it is making getting up in the morning pure torture.
i did want to comment on something nanette said (can i use her any more in this blog? you'd think she was paying me or something. it turns out i just enjoy her blog), though, which is that you probably wonder how i could possibly be an editor without ever using capital letters, or, even being creative very often. i'm still working on that transition between working-writing and home-writing, and i find not editing myself so much to be extremely liberating. plus i hate the shift key. as it turns out, i have crazy attention-to-detail skills when i feel like (or am being paid) to use them. (*i freelance, people, and i guarantee results*). hey, i have won spelling bees!
i'm so glad it's wednesday. this week is going ridiculously slowly. must. get. to. weekend.
wedding updates: we have booked our flight! we are getting married in hawaii and we have transportation there! six and a half months. that is coming up fast, when you consider december will fly by with holidays, work schedules, and my lovely kilipino coming home to visit from paraguay-land. we should really get going on registering, sending save-the-dates, and the like. like, really really.

i've been bad
about blogging, at least. i have been so busy at work that i haven't had the desire to come home and type away about something. . . especially since that something would have to have been about work, since that was all that i was doing. this week should be better. still, i spent the weekend recovering, so there's not much to report.
i did see blades of glory on friday night, with william at home. funny!
britney's situation is getting sadder and sadder.
i am coveting a pair of brown leather tall boots at aldo this weekend that i really want. finally, boots with a kitten heel and that don't look like they came from the ranch. but i have to be good. does anyone out there want to buy me brown leather boots from aldo? come on. . .
i went to barnes & nobel with a gift certificate and bought a few books. hooray!
which, you ask?
bitter is the new black
lipstick jihad
the little black book of style
specialty topics in calamity physics
yay!
groceries today.
i live a very hott lifestyle.
oh! wait! i did get a free small sample of la mer today. that's right. la mer. now hopefully i'll have celebrity-clear skin. at least for as long as the sample lasts.

a long day
i went to work tuesday morning like any other day. only i worked until 6 am this morning.
yeah.
that's the longest i've ever worked. i am pretty much useless at this point. william has also been working long hours.
this is a lot of effort to type, so i think i'm gonna sign off. hopefully more updates later this week.

goin' to the chapel...
and we're gonna get married on South Maluaka beach in Maui. there are some photos of the beach here. It's set! we've also chosen our officiant. He sounds great--we got to read some of the vows he does and william and I quickly came to an easy agreement! hooray for that! so there ya go...some more decisions done.
last weekend we attended the solstice film festival in our own downtown. it was woefully underattended, because the movies were so fantastic. i've still been thinking about the two we chose to see--and how they are still affecting me now.
i wanted to talk about one, because it really inspired me. (to be woefully undercreative in my description). the movie is called darius goes west, and you can find out information about it here. briefly, darius is a high schooler who has duchenne muscular dystrophy, which is a fatal disease and nearly if not the number one killer of children in america. (somthing like 1 in 3,000 kids has it). in any case, like a half dozen young guys (college) come to know darius through various means, and they decide to take him on a road trip, partly to see how handicapped accessible the U.S. is, and to get MTV to pimp his wheelchair. but they also want darius to see the world before it's too late for him, and to raise awareness about the disease so that someday we might find a cure. i laughed, i cried, and seriously, it restored some of my faith in humanity.
it also made me wonder: what am i doing that could restore some faith in humanity? what is my great passion? what should i be doing with my life? the answer is... the answer is..... i don't know. (sweetness to anyone knowing this movie reference). i hope that i find something that motivates me to go beyond myself, to lose myself in something i find THAT important. there was just so much goodness about this movie. please go see it or support it if you can.
ok then. those are my thoughts for now.
