Erase Replace

OK. I was planning on making a little more dramatic re-entry from haitus than this, but you know me. . . time goes by, then boom! Kat's mad about discontinuing products!

Here's the thing. There is one, and only one, truly great undereye concealer out there. And it's not even expensive! It's Max Factor's Erace.

Look, I have really dark undereye circles, even when I get a lot of sleep. I'm pale, so you can see all my dark veins. It sucks.

I have tested many, many different creams, tubes, and sticks. And Erace is the one for me. And many others. And I know some people are totally hooked on 2000 Calorie Mascara, but I'm a L'Oreal Voluminous girl until the end of time.

I do not know what I will do without my precious Erace. I will look like one tired girlfriend, that's for sure. I have til 2010 to stockpile. Hope there's a lot of preservatives in those babies!!!

--One more week of hectic schedule, then I should be back on the blogging track.

God, I am Ugly

OK, so here are my current problems (warning, body talk ahead):

My medication for my stomach used to give me dry mouth, but luckily that's sorta faded. However, chapped lips OHMYWORD. I always get chapped lips but this is extraterrible. This morning they were cracked and BLEEDING. I have not worn lipstick in I can't tell you how long. So it hurts, it's ugly, and I can't cover it up with lipstick. This is a problem, people.

Also mouth-related, I got this weird bump inside my lip that I think I diagnosed on WebMD and is totally benign and not a big deal, but it's swollen and is irritating and I've bit it a couple of times.

It's also a)so dry here and b)the meds again that the inside of my nose is, like, hard. It hurrrrrrrts. Then it itches, then it hurts. This morning, that bled too.

Also upon awakening this morning, I had a giant zit on my cheek (a weird place to get it) and some weird stomachaches. I have been craving Snickers bars for like four days. Which is a little strange for me.

Well, surprise! It's time for my monthly visit, even though it isn't time! Cramps, zits, I feel like my limbs are lead weights and I am all pufftacular. Not surprisingly, my mood is also kind of sucky.

I am seriously ugly right now. Ugh.

downsizing

i was downsized today. i am no longer employed, after being a magazine editor for four years (and a newspaper editor for 1). i was one of a few during the first round of cutbacks.

pretty much sucks to get laid off TWO MONTHS before your wedding.

i'm numb and panicking at the same time.

freelance work? i'm your woman.

the sundays

i am not good with sundays. especially in the winter. if i don't keep myself busy all day, i tend to slide into those sunday blues. i try not to, but it happens more often than not. today seemed worse than usual. i can't even explain why, and that's irritating. on top of already feeling out of sorts.
maybe i should go stare at some photos of hawaii. if i could accomplish something, i might feel better.
there's a busy, busy week ahead.
that is all.

tired

stupid winter. even though it's been pretty nice. i need some happy sunshiny days.
i have been working a lot again (back in the cycle) so i'm exhausted. getting out of bed today really felt like a herculean task. and, actually, a little like sisyphus too. rolling the rock back up the hill...
so i'm a little out of sorts. and i have not been home AT ALL lately for the working (all weekend, monday til 1 am, etc., etc.)
this also means that i am craptacularly boring.
i'm sitting here staring at the screen and i cannot think of a thing to say.
bah.
ps. doahleigh. . . . our christmas tree is still standing too.

three and a half hours.

forgive me for not being personality-plus today. i had three meetings get rescheduled or canceled. i had to cancel plans with a friend. i had to go to the dentist. it took me THREE AND A HALF HOURS to get home today. 12 miles. 3.5 hours. almost all freeway driving. you do the math. add to that the seriously frantic need-to-pee feeling. mm hmm.
now: i ate some quick dinner, and am on the couch with william and molly. ahhh. . . i'm home. finally. and i'm fried, so we'll talk later. love you!
updated to add: I think also that someone told me I needed a makeover today. wow. way to crush the spirit, dude.

no combination of words i could put on the back of a postcard

i guess i upset some of you with my foot amputation headline. i will try to refrain in the future. something you must understand about me. . . i tend to be dramatic, in case that hasn't been painfully obvious already. :) my feet are fine today after deflating and resting.
wintertime is upon us. i got a brain freeze today just going outside without a hat. also it causes everyone to make this terrible sourpuss face every time they go from controlled climates to outdoors. i am sad. i heart summer way too much. i hate winter. i don't like winter sports. well, that's a lie. i like WATCHING hockey--in my sweatpants on the couch. (see also: winter olympics) when it snows outside, i mostly just think about how it's going to be a pain to drive later. i like the holidays, so i'm not a total grinch. i just also like to be warm without wearing Cuddl Duds. and i'm always cold, so that is difficult unless it's above 75 degrees.
one thing i do like about winter is. . . lots of blankets! there is nothing better than putting pjs on and being under blankets, so many or so heavy that it feels like this comforting weight. ah yes, winter sleeping. there's a reason why bears disappear, people.
also, my hands, lips and cuticles are so dry. please have mercy on my skin this winter!
ok. enough cold complaining.
you know what i do when it's cold outside and i can't seem to warm up but i have to drive somewhere in my cold car? i listen to jack johnson. it's like a beach in your speakers.

groundhog's day

So, do you remember that book "alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day"?
substitute my name. and make day plural.
unfortunately it's not something i should get into here, but suffice it to say i'm drained and tired and something like frustrated.
and that leaves me with no drive to do anything besides get busy at throwing a pity party and watch the office.
if anyone else wants to join me, i'm over here, on my couch, in my bathrobe, eating brie.

drive off in a hyundai

a few words you never want to hear your dad say to you, as you happily peruse the new j.crew catalogue: "so, when did you ding up your car?"
me: huh? what are you talking about? (thinks about cashmere sweater)
dad: looks like you did a pretty good job.
me: don't say that! (bolts outside)

yep. dinged it up pretty good. i'd call it more than a ding. some moron took off some paint and left some ugly green paint behind, on the back bumper, sort of side and back. i just stood in shock. my dad felt bad, so he went to get a sponge and bucket. he wiped it off and we got some stuff off, but it pulled the paint off (my sexy! black! paint! i had! to have!)and now i'm stuck with some godawful teal paint--get some taste, moron! anyway, it could be worse and all that, but i'm super sad about my poor little hyundai. she's only three! this is the second not-my-fault bumper problem!

to the jerkstore that hit my car and ran: i hope you have a series of horrible days. i hope your alarm clock doesn't go off tomorrow. i hope you crave brownies and you're psyched to bake, but don't have the eggs to make them. i hope you run out of gas while you're already running late, on an exit ramp. i hope you get a speeding ticket for your fast getaway. i hope your email breaks at work. all day. i hope your date stands you up. i hope the IRS suddenly says you owe them about $600.

i may just have a little hyundai, but you didn't have to hit it and rip off all the paint and leave your ugly green paint on my car. i work hard to pay for my car, and this is one setback i didn't need. you should have sucked it up and left me a note with your phone number and an i'm sorry. get some humanity.

i'm sooooo sick of rain

seriously. it has been raining for what feels like an eternity. it makes it hard to be motivated or fun or creative or interesting. all i seem to think about is sleeping, sweat pants, and movies. today i looked at hawaii pictures on the internet to get some sunshine in my life.
i think i have discussed what a not-morning person i am before. well, i'm now sharing that quality with the dog. so, last weekend we took mo to get groomed. i asked them very specifically to leave a little fur on her, even if it meant she needs to get groomed more often. i don't like having her shaved and it's starting to feel like fall, so she might appreciate some coatage. i thought we were on the same page, so i left mo, shaking like a little leaf, in the care of the groomer. i picked her up three hours later, and it was like she was a different dog. she's shaved. totally. barely a fuzz. no curls at all. and she's been shivering for a week. since then, she has been sleeping in bed with us all night. before this, her m.o. was to hang out for about 15 minutes and then get down and sleep on the floor or couch. now she's been glued to my side all night long. so this morning the alarm goes off, and i snooze it, of course. two snoozes later, though, it's time to get up, like NOW, because it's already one more snooze than i should have done, and it's practically NIGHTTIME out still but ok, ok, already. i look at molly, and ask quietly "go outside?" which usually wakes her up immediately and she makes a break for the door. not this morning. she barely opened her eyes, flopped her head back down, and snuggled in more tightly (if that was possible).
now that's my girl!
