molly's first halloween (with us)

so, here is lady mo, our first pet on her first halloween with us. oh, miss mo. we love you so.

i really do think she kind of liked her costume, once she got used to the hat

see? she's smiling!

we took her to the movie store with us (they allow dogs inside) and she got a treat.
[a photo goes here but blogger is being a butt, so i will have to upload it later.]

she wins for cuteness! and, fact, halloween the movie still freaks me out even though i can point out so many more flaws since the first (of many) times i have seen it.

so, i'm crazy

i really want to get on this nanopoloblomocrosomo month that everyone's on, and i know i'm nuts since i can barely post these days, but i think it will help me make more of a habit of it.
i have more stories, but again, crazy day and it's not over yet. the things i want to write about take time and thought, not just something hastily typed. lots of things on my mind.
anyway, so, i'll be blogging every day the month of november and hopefully meet new bloggers (although i love my blog love, as you know), and get some good writing experience in.
today i worked, visited a spa (for work), got stuck in traffic eleventy million times, picked up my mo, and came home to have dinner. then i'm off for "grey's and girls" night, to watch grey's and see friends. even just an hour makes a difference in my mood.
tomorrow night: KELLY Clarkson! hooray! i have been waiting so long, so long.
saturday: haircut and halloween party.
sunday: wedding shower for a friend (i'm a bridesmaid)
i don't have a costume or present yet. eek!so now you see why i'm running around like mad.
ok. promise, better posts for the month of november!

in absentia

i have not disappeared. i promise. i was out of town for a few days with william to attend his grandma's funeral. we just got back last night, and tonight we were working on Wedding Stuff tonight. no decisions made yet, but we were searching for lodging and flights and rental stuff (jeezly crow, it's expensive to rent stuff).
this weekend--lots of stories to tell, but tonight, i'm just too beat. this has been a crazy couple of weeks.

drive off in a hyundai

a few words you never want to hear your dad say to you, as you happily peruse the new j.crew catalogue: "so, when did you ding up your car?"
me: huh? what are you talking about? (thinks about cashmere sweater)
dad: looks like you did a pretty good job.
me: don't say that! (bolts outside)

yep. dinged it up pretty good. i'd call it more than a ding. some moron took off some paint and left some ugly green paint behind, on the back bumper, sort of side and back. i just stood in shock. my dad felt bad, so he went to get a sponge and bucket. he wiped it off and we got some stuff off, but it pulled the paint off (my sexy! black! paint! i had! to have!)and now i'm stuck with some godawful teal paint--get some taste, moron! anyway, it could be worse and all that, but i'm super sad about my poor little hyundai. she's only three! this is the second not-my-fault bumper problem!

to the jerkstore that hit my car and ran: i hope you have a series of horrible days. i hope your alarm clock doesn't go off tomorrow. i hope you crave brownies and you're psyched to bake, but don't have the eggs to make them. i hope you run out of gas while you're already running late, on an exit ramp. i hope you get a speeding ticket for your fast getaway. i hope your email breaks at work. all day. i hope your date stands you up. i hope the IRS suddenly says you owe them about $600.

i may just have a little hyundai, but you didn't have to hit it and rip off all the paint and leave your ugly green paint on my car. i work hard to pay for my car, and this is one setback i didn't need. you should have sucked it up and left me a note with your phone number and an i'm sorry. get some humanity.

turn the wheel

sorry for the absence. it's been a strange week.
william's grandma passed away this morning. she had been sick for a while, and it was her time. we heard last week that she was not going to be in this world for much longer, so last weekend we drove to brookings, the small town in south dakota where she's been living, to see her. she was mostly asleep. we talked to her about getting married, and william told her he loved her. it reminded me of when i visited my grandma for the last time, which still brings tears to my eyes, so of course i felt deeply sad, knowing what he was feeling in those moments. i didn't know his grandma at all, but i feel the pain of that loss nonetheless.
william's aunt, who is a wonderful lady with a beautiful smile, found out she has breast cancer. please think some happy, healthy thoughts for her as she embarks on her treatment. since william and i have met, and i met her, she has always been very welcoming and sweet to me, which meant a lot to me. i think very highly of her, and i'm thinking all kinds of anti-cancer thoughts. i know that she can beat it.
and hten there's that whole other new life that's come into our world, and it's very happy news! william's sister had her baby, and it is a boy, and he is darling and perfect in every way. i got to hold him the day he was born and the day after, and there is just something so incredibly special about brand new babies. i know i'm going to sound cheesy here, but it's so miraculous. that baby was just inside someone, and now they are here, and ready to learn and be loved and all this good stuff and it always gives you such hope for the future. he opened his eyes and looked around the room and it was like. . . no child had opened its eyes before or something. and oh, the yummy new baby smell. can't replicate that anywhere.
so that's been the last week (and most of that last weekend), and so there's been a lot going on here, so sorry for the absence. i'm still in a blocky area where the words just aren't coming the way they should, which is frustrating and hard, especially at a time like this, when writing can soothe me so much.
rise and fall, turn the wheel, all life is, is a circle. ("circle", big head todd and the monsters)

i'm sooooo sick of rain

seriously. it has been raining for what feels like an eternity. it makes it hard to be motivated or fun or creative or interesting. all i seem to think about is sleeping, sweat pants, and movies. today i looked at hawaii pictures on the internet to get some sunshine in my life.
i think i have discussed what a not-morning person i am before. well, i'm now sharing that quality with the dog. so, last weekend we took mo to get groomed. i asked them very specifically to leave a little fur on her, even if it meant she needs to get groomed more often. i don't like having her shaved and it's starting to feel like fall, so she might appreciate some coatage. i thought we were on the same page, so i left mo, shaking like a little leaf, in the care of the groomer. i picked her up three hours later, and it was like she was a different dog. she's shaved. totally. barely a fuzz. no curls at all. and she's been shivering for a week. since then, she has been sleeping in bed with us all night. before this, her m.o. was to hang out for about 15 minutes and then get down and sleep on the floor or couch. now she's been glued to my side all night long. so this morning the alarm goes off, and i snooze it, of course. two snoozes later, though, it's time to get up, like NOW, because it's already one more snooze than i should have done, and it's practically NIGHTTIME out still but ok, ok, already. i look at molly, and ask quietly "go outside?" which usually wakes her up immediately and she makes a break for the door. not this morning. she barely opened her eyes, flopped her head back down, and snuggled in more tightly (if that was possible).
now that's my girl!
