I have to go there on the politics.
She winked into the camera.
She called the average guy "Joe Six Pack"
She insulted teachers who are working their asses off to make education decent for kids.
She talked about energy and education when the topics were mortgages and foreign policy.
She used the "I have a [friend], so I'm tolerant and diverse" sentence.
Any time she deviated from her script she had to wink into the camera and use her little colloqualisms--doggone, heckuva, you betcha. when the questions called for an answer she hadn't been provided with, she just ranted on whatever she had information for.
Then there was the defiant "I may not answer your question, but I'm gonna talk straight to the American people." Well excuse me, this is a DEBATE with TOPICS.
Folksy neighbors with their silly talk and run-on sentences are fine at HOME. I don't want one representing the USA. In charge of the country that I love. I don't want to have a beer with my elected officials. I don't want to go to a hockey game with them. I want them to be smarter than me, make better decisions than I can. I want them to be a representative of our ideals and people, yes, but smooth, sophisticated, prepared.
Some pundits are saying she could have won. How is that even possible? Am I living in an alternate universe? Is there something I don't understand here?
I have a stomachache of a different kind tonight. Serious.
PS: How is not going down in flames the new standard for success? And since when is coming prepared with facts and numbers seen as negative? Since when have we wanted vote for the lowest common denominator? OHMYGOD.
PPS: NSFW language, possibly. Found this via Free and Flawed: Hey There Sarah Palin

oh dear god i am so right there with you on everything. *shudders*
I hate her.
What about the whole single parent thing? How could you say that to Biden?
Um, yeah. I couldn't even watch the whole thing. I can see why some people may be attracted to the "I'm one of you..." tactic. But it's really sad that that may get her by. It was almost like she was running lines - looking at the camera, not her notes - like she memorized several mini speeches, which is why she deviated from the topic so often.
Ugh.
PS OMG That video was HILARIOUS!
I'm so confounded by people who vote for someone because they feel like they could have a beer with them, or because "they're just like me." hello, i want the people running my country to be smarter and better than me! so yeah, I'm with you.
I couldn't have said it better. I frankly was laughing through most of it at how completely ridiculous she is. But then I mistakingly listened to commentary afterwards and that is when the stomachache started for me as well. It scares the shit out of me that some people actually found her appealing.
Do. Not. Like. Her. With the fire of a thousand suns. Blech.
I love that video, except now that song is in my head and I don't like that song (the real one I mean).
Check this one out. It made me laugh:

How I wish I had been able to watch last night!
You're not living in an alternate universe, and I am so with you on not wanting folksy talk.
Thank you! Thank you for saying all of that. It’s what I was thinking, but I couldn’t figure out how to say it. The other day I asked someone why they like Sarah Palin and they said because “She’s seems like a normal everyday person. She’s just down to earth.” So I pressed and asked if they agreed with her policies and ideas, and I got, “Well I don’t really know much about her policies.”
Which okay, you’re allowed to like a person for being down to earth, that’s fine. But please god tell me you’re not going to vote for her! Especially based on that!
I'm right there with ya!
i really can't stand her. every time she said "nook-yoo-ler," i wanted to throw things at my tv.
and i love my tv.
